Honestly about the wristband and the environment
We'd rather tell you the truth than sell you a label. Here is exactly what the wristband is made of, what it costs the planet, and which need it meets — so you can decide for yourself.

What the band is made of
The AYA wristband is a small, waterproof film of BPA-free polypropylene (plastic type 5, PP), about 0.1 mm thick. No battery, no electronics, no app, and made for one day of wear.
The honest footprint
A band weighs a few grams. By our own calculation, a whole childhood of use — even heavy use across 3-4 years — is on the order of a short car trip. We don't call it “green”, because that would require a full life-cycle assessment we haven't done. But small it is.
Single-use or reusable
A reusable band has a lower CO2 footprint on its own — which is why we are also developing a reusable option. The difference is small in the big picture, but it is real, and we don't hide it. Choose single-use when you want zero commitment and privacy: no subscription, nothing to charge, no fear of losing it, and no permanent profile on your child. Choose reusable when you want something permanent.
How to dispose of it
Follow your local council's rules for plastic or residual waste. Be aware that most plastics in Denmark are in practice incinerated with energy recovery rather than recycled — that includes this band. Only buy the quantity you actually use.
