Safety and privacy

Safety and privacy are built into AYA

A safety wristband should bring calm, not worry. So we built AYA to help your child home without following them. The wristband is a passive QR code: no chip, no battery, no background tracking. A location is shared only if an adult actively scans the code to help, and only in a short window you control. Here is exactly how it fits together.

Six promises we keep

1

The link cannot be misused

A scan only works with a live view token inside a hard three-minute window. A link that is copied or screenshotted is dead afterwards. No one can save a lasting look at your child.
2

You only share what you choose

Sharing a location is voluntary and minimal. The finder chooses whether to share a precise position, and if they decline, only a rough city from the IP is shown. No GPS chip, no battery, no background tracking. The wristband is a passive QR.
3

Everything expires on its own

A wristband is active for 24 hours, then access closes automatically. There is no permanent access to your child's details, not even for us.
4

You stay in control

You can deactivate the wristband at any time, release it so the name and scan history are deleted and the code becomes clean and free again, or reactivate it. The details are yours, and you manage them from your dashboard.
5

A hardened account

Login uses a passkey and biometrics. Our support can view your account read-only, never change anything, and there is no back door. Login attempts, one-time codes and payment fail closed under suspicion, and secrets refuse to start in production if they are missing.
6

Privacy all the way down

No third-party cookies, no cookie banner, no Google or Meta pixel in your browser. IP addresses are hashed daily with SHA-256 so we never store a raw address, and everything is hosted in the EU at Hetzner in Germany.

How a scan works

From an adult finding your child to you knowing about it is three steps, with nothing running in the background:
  1. 1
The finder scans the QR code
Any adult opens the wristband's QR with their phone camera. No app, no account. It opens a web page in the finder's own language.
  2. 2
You get a message straight away
You receive a push notification on your own device. If the finder chooses to share a position, you see it immediately. If they decline, you only see a rough city.
  3. 3
    The window closes again
The live view token lives only three minutes, and the wristband expires after 24 hours. Once it ends the link is dead, and no one can open a new look without a fresh scan.

Safety that does not cost privacy

The AYA wristband is a small, waterproof band with a QR code. No app and no account for whoever finds your child, and no tracking of anyone. Activate one wristband at a time as you head out.

Frequently asked questions about safety and privacy

Does the AYA wristband track my child?
No. The wristband has neither GPS nor a battery and tracks nothing. It is a passive QR code that only shares a location if an adult actively scans it to help, and only in a short window you control.
What happens to the link a finder opens?
A scan only works with a live view token inside a hard three-minute window. Once the window closes the link is dead. A copied or screenshotted link does not work afterwards.
How long do you keep my data?
A wristband is active for 24 hours, then access closes automatically. You can also release the wristband at any time so the name and scan history are deleted immediately.
Do you use cookies or share data with Google or Meta?
No. There are no third-party cookies, no cookie banner and no Google or Meta pixel in your browser. IP addresses are hashed daily with SHA-256 so we never store a raw address, and everything is hosted in the EU at Hetzner in Germany.
Can AYA or support see my details?
Our support can view your account read-only to help, but can never change anything, and there is no back door. Login is hardened with a passkey and biometrics, and sensitive actions fail closed under suspicion.
